Every day we all take in a certain amount of water, sometimes without noticing it.

Here in the Netherlands our water is cleaned quite thoroughly. It is safe to drink and use for cooking.

But what I found out is that even the water here is poluted by small amounts of chemicals.

All used water and all our feces and urine come together into the same sewer. And how unappetizing this may sound, this same sewer ‘material’ is cleansed back to our water running from the tap.

The cleaning of the water is mainly aimed at killing bacteria and viruses in the water. But what is difficult to filter and what is not filtered out, are the remains of medicine and psychotropics that is released in every bathroom.

Meaning that with drinking water from the tap, I could as well be taking in the residue of contraceptives, ibuprofen or psychotropics that I do not need or use!

Yes, I know that these are very small residues, but I have beenfeeling for a while that this doesn’t feel right for my body.

I have been looking for mountain water in glass bottles, but that has a very high environmental footprint (transporting, recycling glass etc.).

So I started to look for other options. In the meantime I heard via a friend about another friend who had this beautiful glass waterfilter with stones at the bottom. I couldn’t quite wrap my head around what it would look like, but was very curious.

One day I visited the friend with the filter and I was in love with the glass tank and the mineral stones at the bottom. I had a taste test of the water and it tasted good, neutral I would say (I am not really good at describing the taste of water).

So tastewise and aesthetically it seemed very promising.

But it hadn’t passed my last and most important test; filtering out those micr0-doses of meds out of my water.

So I got in touch with the company and got a detailed report with all the tests that the waterfilter system had undergone and how much it filtered out. To my surprise this water filter system could filter out 99 to 99.9% of all the toxins I didn’t want in my water anymore.
